Scale-house Operator MT

We are looking for a Scale-house Operator. Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Scale-house Operator performs work involving the operation of the scale to weigh vehicles and generate as well as maintain shipping records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Probing all vessels that arrive at the plant.
  2. Verify truck seals, removal and documentation (outside).
  3. Issue in and out scale tickets.
  4. Interact with growers and drivers in a professional manner.
  5. Grade barley samples, including composite, farm and seed samples.
  6. File samples and record maintenance.
  7. Accurately input barley sample analysis into Excel.
  8. Checks and maintain calibration, analysis and documentation of  NIR and RVA machine.
  9. Provide support in SAP or current operating system (Smartsoft)
  10. Act as the back-up for the outside elevator operators at the Shelby, MT and Carter, MT locations which include the loading and unloading of both trucks and rail.
  11. Shovel and sweep walkways and scales (all months).

Protective Clothing Required:

The employee must wear safety shoes, safety glasses and a hard hat.  A full face respirator may be required when working in some in manufacturing areas.

Education and/or Experience:

Requires a high school diploma or GED.  May require a Malt Certificate in Malting Technology; the training for the Certificate will be provided by the Company.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, and comprehend technical instructions and write shift reports and complete process charts. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to carry out standard computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, percentage calculations and division.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to analyze benchmark standards in terms of quality and quantity.  Ability to apply problem solving techniques to day to day problems.

Other Skills:

Requires ability to plan and prioritize and complete basic machine care. This position requires the ability to use tools to conduct minor repairs, use hand tools for cleaning around the plant such as scrapers and wire brushes, etc.
