Sales Manager - North America

Diamalteria has the vision to become the leading global malt-based ingredients specialists. To fulfill this ambitious vision we are seeking a Sales Manager – North America. The Sales Manager position aims at establishing an effective presence and a relevant level of profitable sales in North America. The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a high level of familiarity with importing goods (preferably ingredients) from Europe to North America
  • Have a deep understanding of logistics hubs and freight options across the territory US and Canada
  • Have exposure in managing a portfolio of distributors and clients (preferably in the food industry)
  • Be able to maintain a track record in negotiating cooperation agreements with distributors and in negotiating sales contracts with clients
  • Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems and their requirements for rigor in data entries
  • A substantial past exposure in food B2B environment would be an important advantage
  • Have a track record of cooperation and involvement with market research and marketing professional

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Be the liaison of our Italian team in North America, regularly update via video-conference
  • Participate in the selection of distributors
  • Identify, develop and promote relationships with identified customers in the target market segment
  • Manage pricing to optimize the value returned to the company (adhere to the company pricing tool, evaluate volume vs price vs brand standing)
  • Coordinate product application workshops with distributors and clients
  • Identify, develop and promote relationships with identified customers in the target market segment
  • Identify, develop and promote relationships with identified customers in the target market segment
  • Cultivate and develop customer relationships and respond to customers commercial and technical requests
  • Monitor sales performance, gather information on competition, and document market evolutions
  • Facilitate the timely execution of sales and deliveries by engaging in planning, custom clearance, and coordination of logistics in close contact with the Italian team
  • Work closely with our Marketing Department to adapt pitch and to develop support media for the desired audience
  • Work closely with our Technical Department to modify product applications and recipes in line with the end user needs
  • Partner and collaborate with Malteurop North America (sister company) in Milwaukee to support and develop the craft brewing segment and to align on possible distribution synergies                                                                                               

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Marketing and/or Supply Chain Management;
  • 8+ years of sales and supply chain experience
  • Certified/recognized training in sales and negotiation technics
  • Fluent in English and Spanish. (French or Italian is a plus.)
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (marketing, technical, production…)
  • Ability to engage with customers from a technical perspective (knowledge in chemistry, food sciences)
  • Capacity to find information and report concisely in an insightful and constructive manner
  • Capacity to give and to receive constructive feedback at all hierarchical levels
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite – Advance Excel and PowerPoint
  • Domestic and International Travel
  • Position Location: New Jersey (area of New York) or Illinois (area of Chicago)
