Malteurop in Germany
Since its creation in the 1980s, Malteurop has exported malt to Germany.
Germany, though it is the largest malt market in the European Union, has a malting industry that is unstructured, made up of many units with small capacities. Since the reunification of Germany, the sector has been undergoing a profound restructuring, and Malteurop has further strengthened its commercial positions with the creation, in 1993, of two new plants: one in Langerringen in Bavaria and the other in Rostock in the Northeast.
The acquisition of the malting plant in Heidenau in 2007 complements the base of industrial facilities of Malteurop Deutschland. The Group’s three German plants have a total capacity of 260,000 tons. Among the most recent and best-performing of the Group’s malting plants, they are ideally located to serve the entire German brewing industry, and prefigure the future direction of Germany’s malting industry.
