A Strong Partnership
In 1999, when MALTEUROP Ukraine was established, the Barley Department investigated the Ukrainian market for malting barley. The department launched a Malting Barley Development Program in Ukraine to supply the company's malthouses with high quality raw material.
A Development Program Focused on Quality
The main goal of the Barley Department Program was to select varieties well known for malting barley and introduce them into Ukrainian agriculture.
This allowed MALTEUROP Ukraine to control the process of malting barley production and to guarantee maltsters with high quality raw material.
This control includes the following:
- Seed multiplication fields;
- Provision of farmers with certified seed material;
- Commercial sowings;
- Storage facilities.

Ensuring Long Term Partnerships with Suppliers
In 2006, the Barley Department was detached from the MALTEUROP Ukraine structure to become a 100 % subsidiary of Champagne Céréales (the #1 European cereals co-operative). But the strong working relationship will continue and the new barley entity will continue to supply MALTEUROP with high quality raw material.
